Cool Little Miniature Stove! - The funniest movie is here. Find it

Manny being Moron

Thank you Los Angeles. At one point Manny was my favorite player. Despite all his shenanigans I loved him. Added a little character to the dog days of summer, but after seeing what has been going on with contract negotiations doesn’t make me miss him at all. I think Jason Bay was an incredible pickup for the team now with seeing all this go on. I was one of the first to complain when Manny left town, and couldn’t stand the things that were being said about him. I thought for sure after hearing the Dodgers offered him a 2-year deal worth $45 million that he’d be back in Blue. I dam near crapped my pants when I saw that the offer was rejected. Who knows maybe it’s Manny or maybe Boras is Instructing him on what to do, but for a guy who has all the money in the world, and in essence is being offered exactly what he wants at least for one year. God for bid he has to perform and if he doesn’t he can fall back on another $20 million, it’s up to him. Los Angeles should be expected to pony up so much money for a player that gave up on a team that he played 8 Hall of fame years for and where he was absolutely adored by the Fans. He should have noted what happened to Varitek, didn’t he see that Boras negotiated him a contract that over the next two years won’t be worth what he would have got in Arbitration. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke-lakers27-2009feb27,0,402501.column

Martin is the Man

After missing 50 games and coming back off a torn bicep, Martin Broduer records his 99th career shut-out and is just 7 wins away from Patrick Roy for most all time wins in the NHL. What a great year for Hockey in New England. Bruins are playing off the charts and Roy's record will go down. http://devils.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=Recap&seas=20082009&gtype=2&gnum=909

"Thug Life"... Nebraska

I saw this and just had to post it. Seems to be sending quite the message, just wish I knew what it was....

Downeast Coffee Shop with a twist

Even this Coffee Shop in Maine has made some changes to try to increase sales in this current economy. Can't be too much foot traffic at a Coffee Shop in Vassalboro, Maine. Maybe its not a coincidence that the signs at the State line read "Maine, the way Life should be."

Giant Stingray caught

This Beast was brought in off the coast of Thailand. Took 13 men to reel in the 771lbs Stingray, the record for a Rod-&-Reel capture. http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/92308/?fp=1

"Crack" Gum

Take a look at this guys story. Glad to see the PD "Cracking" Down. This guy shouldn't be selling $200 wads of gum. http://seacoastonline.com/articles/20090224-NEWS-902240385

No More Monkey Business

200 lbs Chimpanzee shot after going on a rampage. Prime example on why wild animals belong in the wild and not as pets. Reading the articles about this is very sad. It's illegal now to have a Chimp as a pet, but "Travis's" Owner was allowed to keep him due to a "Grand Father" clause: he was there pet before the law went into effect. Sandra Herold should be shamed in my opinion. Giving her "pet" wine and Xanax is not right. The fact is if you have to give your pet Xanax to keep it calm you probably shouldn't be keeping as a pet. http://www.nypost.com/seven/02182009/news/nationalnews/why_chimp_went_bananas_on_gal_155740.htm

N.B.A All-Star Weekend should go

I don't know how many people get excited for the NBA All-Star Weekend, but it has become such a joke. Four people in the Slam Dunk Contest. Two of which nobody could care about, and Nate Robinson is only fun to watch due to how small he is. Come on David Stern step up to the plate and fix this "Weekend". Whatever happen to the days of the Superstars doing this event. You should have to be on the All-Star team to participate. It was fun to see Dwight Howard, but that was about it. The 3 Point Shootout seems to a bunch of stiffs to. I mean Daquan Cook had to score 8 points to win in a shootout. I'm pretty sure that I could do that. You rarely see any of the participants hit the 20 point mark. In my opinion that is weak, you can see better shooting at a High School game. The game it self is a glorified, no defense, look at me extravaganza. Kobe & Shaq winning the MVP together..... Lame. Kobe definetly deserved the award, but to share it with Shaq come on. Could it be cause the game was in Phoenix, or the NBA thought it be fun to see the two former teammates that know supposedly hate each other share the spotlight. I mean if you want to do something like split an award that is suppose to go to the most valuable player (singular notice). Then Chris Paul would have been a better fit to do it with. His 14 Pts, 14 Asst & 3 steals is more impressive the Shaq's 17 Pts, 5 Rebs & 1 Blk as I see it. I know the NBA did this before, but it made a bit more since when it was Stockton & Malone and the game was played in Utah

Welcome Back "Jumbo Joe"

Well last night was the 2nd return to the "Garden" for Joe Thornton since the team trade back in December of 2005. His 1st appearance back in 2006 six came to a halt when he got tossed form the game to a fairly controversial hit to Hal Gill about half way through the first period. Joe definitely seems to play a little different as a member of the Sharks. Routinely setting up in font of the Net for a quick one timer or a deflection off a slap shot. The Bruins were able to hold him to just one point with a goal in the 3rd period, but this game is what I consider a statement game. San Jose was able to knock of the top ranked team in the NHL. This would have been a huge game for the B's to win. The Sharks are the second best team in the league just behind them and could be a team they meet in the Stanley Cup Finals (wish full thinking). If we are going to expect the Bruins to make some noise in the playoffs this year this is exactly the type of game they need to win to build confidence before the playoffs. They're a young team and can use all the momentum that they can get. http://weei.stats.com/nhl/recap.asp?lg=NHL&g=2009021001&ref=hea&tm=&src=

A-Rod = A-Roid

Not that I am an A-Rod fan by any stretch of the imagination, but it is nice to see that he was man enough to come clean amidst all the speculation the last couple of days. I also don't think it is fair for the Media to release only his name of the 104 that were leaked form the anonymous testing MLB Baseball did back in 2003 to see if Steroid testing was going to be neccessary. http://weei.stats.com//multisport/story.asp?i=20090209200757360000101 Hopefully this will set an example for the hundreds of other players that are going to be in this same situation. MLB needs to move out from under the steroid ERA. As a true fan I'm loosing a good amount of my interest of seeing what will happen this year. I will always be a Sox fan and will watch the games, but at this point it is for a more of the thrill of the sport and that there will be a winner and a loser. As I see records getting broken and whats currently listed in the books, well to me they'll always have a tainted feel. At this point for any record that has or will change since 1998 will always have me in doubt. MLB has to do something to get this situation under control. Unlike the player strike in the 90's that lead to a lot of fans leaving the game, they won't have the luxury of HGH or Steroids to pump up the players and bring back the fans with ridiculous numbers at the plate. I think the true fans will be there through it all, and MLB owes it to the fans to cleanup the sport. As well as having the record books stating the old records along with the new records with a footer saying anything from 1998-2008 (or when ever the clean it up) was known as the "Steroid Era" so take from the records what you will.

Deal with the Devil

So with Ground Hog day now behind us and with each day we get closer and closer to Pitchers & Catchers reporting to Spring Training, I have to say that I'm shocked at the fact that Manny still has not reached a deal with anyone. Talk about a guy shooting himself in the foot. I mean all he had to do was play hard for a couple of more years and he would have made another $40 million from the Sox. But he had to buy into the hype that so called "Super Agent" Scott Boras could land him another $100 million deal. At this point it looks like he is going to have a tough time getting a contract that will be close to what the Sox would have giving him for the two team options they had, $20 million a year to do what he was doing for the last 8. Specially if he has the audacity to turn down a 1 year $25 million offer from the Dodgers http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3880836 . Must be nice in this type of economy to turn down a contract that would make you the second highest player in the league. However Boras seems to believe that the team he goes to would make money hand over fist with the revenue the would make on apparel an ticket sales just having Manny on their team. If seeing what happened to Vartitek doesn't shed some light on Boras's eyes then it is hope less. He has made his money though so I guess for him it ain't no thing. Tek ended taking a contract for less then half of what he would have got from Arbitration, but rest assure you can guarantee that Boras was the one whispering in his ear that he could get a multi year deal worth over $11 million a season. So months go by with no teams showing interest in his service for that kind of money, as well as having to give up drafts picks for signing him due to the arbitration offer(nice move Sox's). After Tek had some agent free meetings with the ownership he ended up taking a 1 year deal for on $5 million http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stove/posts/45961-varitek-on-verge-of-two-year-deal-with-red-sox?eref=sircrc with a team option for the next year at $3 million. Arbitration isn't looking so bad now for a guy that had hardly any production at the plate. Maybe Manny should have paid some attention to this. I'm sure he'll make out just fine in the end, but if money is what matters it sure seems like he left a lot on the table. The Varitek contract ended up working in the Sox's favor. If Tek settled for arbitration he would be clearly getting over paid if they with last years numbers, but thanks to Boras we got are Captain back for at least one more year at half the cost. Perfect chance for the Sox to cut back on his starts ands have him work with the younger guys to groom one for the future.

Better Then Expected

Well February is among us. The days seem to be getting slightly longer each week which is awesome. Superbowl 43 has been played, and despite not caring too much about either team in the game it did keep me glued to my seat with one of the best final quarters I have ever seen in a football game. Larry Fitzgerald with a ridiculous 105 yards and two touchdowns on 6 receptions after being shut down for three quarters of the game. One off the single most dominate performances in a Superbowl all in the last 12 minutes. He could have been the first MVP to be on the loosing team. I have to say that I would have preferred to see the Cardinals hold on after that last touchdown with just over two and a half minutes left in the game, but "Big Ben" looked a lot more composed in this time around compared to his dismal performance in his first go round in the big game. Marching the ball down the field and securing his second Superbowl victory with a toe-tapping, finger-tip grabbing touchdown pass to Superbowl MVP Santonio Holmes with just 35 seconds left in the game. Scary to see what his career is going to look like when it is all said and done. 27 years old with quite the core of players around him on both sides of the ball. We don't want him to surpass Brady, but he sure looks better then Peyton Manning to me. Now we'll just have to hold tight till next year, to see if Pittsburgh can get their hands on another Lombardi Trophy and get the ever coveted title of "Dynasty"...
