Welcome Back "Jumbo Joe"

Well last night was the 2nd return to the "Garden" for Joe Thornton since the team trade back in December of 2005. His 1st appearance back in 2006 six came to a halt when he got tossed form the game to a fairly controversial hit to Hal Gill about half way through the first period. Joe definitely seems to play a little different as a member of the Sharks. Routinely setting up in font of the Net for a quick one timer or a deflection off a slap shot. The Bruins were able to hold him to just one point with a goal in the 3rd period, but this game is what I consider a statement game. San Jose was able to knock of the top ranked team in the NHL. This would have been a huge game for the B's to win. The Sharks are the second best team in the league just behind them and could be a team they meet in the Stanley Cup Finals (wish full thinking). If we are going to expect the Bruins to make some noise in the playoffs this year this is exactly the type of game they need to win to build confidence before the playoffs. They're a young team and can use all the momentum that they can get. http://weei.stats.com/nhl/recap.asp?lg=NHL&g=2009021001&ref=hea&tm=&src=
